Cynthia McGrath, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC
Cynthia McGrath is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner whose experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner helped deepen her commitment to mental health care. She completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice and psychiatric mental health training through the University of Illinois at Chicago and is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Her background caring for patients with a wide range of physical and emotional health concerns helps her understand how the body, stress, life circumstances, and emotional well-being can affect one another. She provides holistic, evidence-based psychiatric evaluations and medication management for adolescents ages 14 and older and adults.
Her style is warm, practical, and down-to-earth. She works to create a comfortable space where patients feel listened to, respected, and involved in their care. She believes treatment should be a partnership, and she takes time to understand each person’s concerns, explain options clearly, and help create a plan that supports both mental and physical well-being.
Outside of her professional life, Cynthia enjoys spending time with her family, reading historical fiction, and tending to her flower gardens. Music has long been an important part of her life, and she often shares that passion by playing piano for musical events in the Rockford community.
She is honored to support patients in taking meaningful steps toward improved mental health, balance, and quality of life.
