Dr. Jose Montes, MD Dr. Montes was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and raised locally. He is fluent in both Spanish and English. Dr. Montes graduated from Belvidere High School and earned his undergraduate degree with a major in Spanish, minors in biology and chemistry, and a secondary education teaching certificate. He completed medical school at UIC‑Rockford and dual residencies in family medicine and psychiatry in Milwaukee. He is board certified in psychiatry and focuses his practice on adult patients, treating individuals 18 years and older. Dr. Montes enjoys spending time with family and friends and watching sports—especially the Cowboys and Cubs—so be prepared for some good-natured teasing during your session if you root for other teams. He is also passionate about teaching and frequently trains medical students, family medicine residents, advanced practice registered nurses, and physician assistants.
