Dr. Jose Montes, MD Born in Guadalajara, Mexico and raised locally, Dr. Montes is fluent in both Spanish and English. He graduated from Belvidere High School. He got his undergraduate degree with a major in Spanish. He had biology and chemistry minors and achieved a secondary education teaching certificate. He went to medical school at UIC- Rockford and did dual residencies in family medicine and psychiatry in Milwaukee. He became board certified in both, but after training has focused his practice in adult psychiatry. He is now board certified in psychiatry and treats patients 18 years of age and older. Dr. Montes enjoys spending time with his family and friends and watching sports. If you are not a Cowboy or Cubs fan, be prepared: he may give you a hard time during your session. Dr. Montes enjoys teaching and frequently has students working with him. He trains medical students, family medicine residents, advanced practice registered nurses, and physician assistants.
